I buy this cast of angels, though… what about Lara Pulver as War?

How does a reblog get spontabeously deleted O_O

Anyway, again, Lara Pulver… red hair, red leather, on a motorbike, with a SWORD…she is among Hell’s Angels anywhere… :o

All Soul’s Day by Ghislainem70

A (mainly) Mystrade fic that’s very well paced in regard to actions and emotions. Sherlock and John’s part also develops naturally and sometimes is very moving. The relationships are beautifully built and depicted, and the details are quite extraordinary. BAMF!Everyone =)

I’ve been avoiding reading it because it’s a bit long, but now that I’ve started… I can’t stop.

Mystrade just makes me ache all over.

I don’t think it has a happy ending. I think they would love one another, but they just couldn’t make it work. Maybe because Mycroft is just…away too often to have a real relationship, and Lestrade gets sick of worrying and not being able to ask about his day and the way Mycroft knows everything about him and he still feels some nights that he doesn’t know the man in his bed.

Or it would be terribly one-sided, with Mycroft having this deep dark affection for the officer who got his brother clean and gives him and work and is the first person to care for him other than himself, but Lestrade is straight.

Johnlock works. Platonic, sexual, romantic. Whatever. They obviously love one another and they just work.

Mystrade has too many problems to overcome. I want them both to be happy together, and I love fics with happy endings, but if it were real life, I think they’d be like the normal poor saps of the world who don’t end up with the loves of their lives.

You know, I’m a complete newcomer to this ship, jumped in with both feet— but I see where you’re coming from. There would at the very least be rough patches. Or maybe they’d be like that couple that’s constantly breaking up then getting back together again, and other people just look at them and shake their heads. ‘They’ll be apart again in a couple of months.’ And maybe John and Sherlock would start setting their watches by it, or placing bets…

Damn it all, this ship will be the death of me one way or the other.

Naivete or not, I have never felt that Mystrade is mostly angst. It will not be fluff, but I believe they have what it take to stay in an unconventional relationship. Mycroft is open-minded and flexible. Greg is not young yet certainly not jaded. They can’t see a future of daily phone conversations, of living together, of marriage; but in my mind it’s possible for them to see themselves sharing the 1/10 part of life that’s not work, making each other relaxed and motivated, and giving acceptance and understanding. It’s a relationship that don’t have most of the strong supports a normal one would rather have, but it is precious to both parties and they have the resilience to hold on to it. I don’t think any practical Mystrade stories can have a ‘happily ever after’ ending - but it can span about 30 years and then at the end they look back a say “Funny how we are still standing here by each other, eh?”

Fangirl mode full on this is.

Part of my hope is inspired by the story of my favorite author Neil Gaiman and his wife Amanda Palmer. The lady is obsessed with freedom and had never believed in marriage or long term relationship, the couple is more often apart than together, they also had no reason to not stay single - they don’t even live together before or after getting married! Their marriage is purely spiritual (the wedding is crazy unconventional too). And whenever I read on Gaiman’s tumblr that they are in different places again (“I will not see her for another 59 days, not that I’m counting or anything. But she has an album to make, and I have stuff to write”), I have to wonder how they can stay like that and what gave them the confidence to begin with.

Well, I guess if I can stay positive, maybe i won’t drown myself too soon with Mystrade.
